My experience using a generative AI tool to create visuals

Midjourney:
I used this tool for the very first time last night.
It is definitely interesting and I am in awe of where we have come with technology. There is so much more to create, so much more to imagine, and it is evolving rapidly as I type.

Here’s what I did:
I started with a simple prompt: Indian, fair, frizzy, wavy shoulder length haired, round faced, chubby, grey tshirt, 35 year old woman, painting a website with a brush
I soon realized that the tool does not necessarily consider and use all the specifications at once — it might skip some while generating an image.
Then you have to create a ‘remix prompt’ to tweak your original prompt and add the missing tags.
The tool generates 4 images after every prompt, out of which you can choose to ‘upscale’ 1 — and then ‘remix prompt’ that one to achieve what you have imagined.

This is a super addictive process and you want to just keep going!

Some thoughts:
1. It is a blank canvas — just like when you use traditional tools. What you create is only as good as what you prompt.
2. How you use the generated image is what matters —whether it fits your style—it might be used as a reference starting point to create something more specific, or you could use it for a social promo graphic along with some copy, or it can be printed to make wall art for your space (I haven’t explored the print quality)
3. Or you can just use the tool to ‘make the logo bigger’ — lol.
4. The world will still need designers or may be prompt artists (who knows) that know exactly what to say to generate a specific result.
5. I also think that the tools need to get more inclusive in generating results in terms of demographics.
6. Prompting can be definitely more intuitive and user friendly.

Would love to know your thoughts on this evolving technology and it’s implications on the industry in general.
